Privacy policy
The short version: we do not store the figures you enter, we do not use cookies, and we do not track you.
Who is responsible for your data
Sumpath is run by Abdul Basit, an individual based in Pakistan. For anything about your privacy, email [email protected].
The figures you enter
When you use a calculator, the figures you enter (such as your salary) are used once to work out your result and are then thrown away. We do not save them, we do not link them to you, and we do not have user accounts.
Your figures are added to the page address so you can bookmark or share a result. That means they are kept in your own browser history, and in anything you share. Our web server is set up so that it does not record those figures in its logs.
Cookies
We do not set any cookies at the moment.
Analytics
We do not use any analytics or visitor-tracking tools at the moment. If we add one, we will update this policy first and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent.
Advertising
We do not show adverts at the moment. In future we plan to show adverts from Google AdSense to pay for the site. Google may then use cookies to show adverts, including adverts based on your interests if you agree. Before any adverts appear we will:
- update this policy to explain what Google collects and why;
- show visitors in the UK and the European Economic Area a consent message, so you can choose whether to allow personalised adverts;
- make sure no advertising cookies are set before you have made that choice.
Technical logs
Like almost every website, our server sees technical information when you visit a page, such as your IP address, your browser type and which page you asked for. We use this only to keep the site running and secure, and we keep it for a short time.
The site runs on a server provided by Hetzner Online GmbH in Germany. Visits pass through Cloudflare, a network that protects the site and makes it faster; Cloudflare handles your IP address and request to do this, under its own privacy policy.
Our server logs record the time, the page you asked for (without the figures you type into a calculator), the result and the address that connected, which is usually Cloudflare's rather than yours. We delete these logs after 14 days.
If you contact us
If you contact us by email, phone or WhatsApp, we use your contact details and message only to reply. Messages sent through WhatsApp are also handled by WhatsApp, under its own privacy policy. We keep messages only as long as we need them to deal with what you asked about.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, and you can object to how we use it. Email us to do this. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page whenever the way we handle data changes. The date at the top shows when it was last reviewed.
